Half day ‘Managing mental health at work’ course

Course aims: by the end of this course delegates will have:

  • gained understanding about the different types of mental health problems and the impact they have in the workplace
  • considered their own responsibilities and limitations as line managers in supporting people with mental health problems at work
  • more knowledge about the legal frameworks around mental health at work
  • more confidence in talking about mental health at work and proactively supporting people who they line manage

  • what we mean by mental health and distress
  • types of mental health problem and the impact of mental health on the workplace
  • the WHO’s three-pronged approach to tackling mental health at work
  • the Equality Act 2010 and the legal duties it places on organisations
  • supporting people with mental health problems while they’re at work
  • supporting people who have been on sickness absence to return to work successfully
  • talking about mental health at work – how to promote reflection and discussion
